Mt. Si

Sunday, June 15, Sarah returned from a week in New England visiting her family. It was a bright, sunny day, so we decided to go to Safeco Field to take in a Mariners game. The Mariners are terrible this year, but good weather and great seats behind home plate made for a fun afternoon.

Monday, we decided to hike Mt. Si, one of the most popular hikes in the Seattle area. Located less than an hour from the city, in North Bend, it is very easily accessible. The climb isn’t as steep as Mailbox Peak, but climbing 3800’ in about four miles makes it a good workout in its own right.

It was another beautiful day, and after switchbacking through the forest, we were treated to fantastic views of Mt. Rainier.



There were also nice views looking down on North Bend.


Days like this one make people fall in love with Seattle.

After stopping for a snack and enjoying the views from the top of the main trail, we continued up to the Haystack. The Haystack is the true top of the mountain, but requires a scramble to reach the peak. Sarah only made it partway up, but Brian continued to the top where he got more mountain vistas.


What a great way to spend the afternoon!

Tuesday, we said goodbye to our generous hosts, Brian and Melissa, and to Seattle and we started driving east to Lake Chelan.
